At Thrive Dental & Orthodontics, patient comfort is one of our team’s top priorities. We want you and your family to feel right at home whenever you visit, which is why our dental office features enjoyable amenities, games and movies for the kids, and plenty of friendly faces who can’t wait to assist you. Unfortunately, despite these efforts, we know that many people still struggle with mild to severe feelings of dental anxiety or phobia. If you fit into this category, don’t hesitate to let us know! Dr. Nathan and Dr. Christine want to help by providing sedation dentistry at your next appointment.
Sedation dentistry is a helpful aid that can take the edge off of negative emotions and help you (or your loved one) receive important dental care in a genuinely relaxed setting. If you have any questions or would like to schedule a first appointment here in Frisco, TX, contact us today.
Our available sedation options include:
Also referred to as “laughing gas,” nitrous oxide is a mild sedative that can be safely used on patients of all ages. Once you or your child has gotten settled in the treatment chair, our team places a mask over their nose and start administering the gas mixed with oxygen. Within minutes of breathing it in, feelings of calmness and contentment should take over. Patients will remain awake throughout their procedure and should recover very quickly once the mask is removed, which means that it’s easy to return to a regular routine right away.
IV sedation is a much stronger form of sedation dentistry. While it will not render patients unconscious, they will enter what is called a “twilight sleep.” You will be conscious enough to respond to any requests or questions from our team while likely having little to no memory of the entire experience once you’ve recovered at home. The medication we use is delivered intravenously (through a vein), and the dosage can be adjusted at any time to ensure complete comfort and safety for the patient. When choosing this level of sedation, please arrange for a trusted escort to take you home following your procedure and watch over you until the effects wear off.
