Traditional Braces – Frisco, TX

Achieve Your Straightest, Brightest Smile with Braces

You surely remember being in middle school and seeing many of your classmates with mouthfuls of brackets and wires. Traditional braces are often considered a “rite of passage” at that young age, but they can actually benefit growing patients and older adults alike. If you or your loved one is facing significant orthodontic problems, our team at Thrive Dental & Orthodontics is likely to recommend this time-tested approach. Contact us today if you’d like to schedule a consultation here in Frisco, TX with Dr. Nathan, or if you have any questions.

How Do Traditional Braces Work?

Braces consist of three distinct components. There are silver brackets, which we will attach to the front surfaces of the teeth. The orthodontic wire is then placed over the brackets and exerts consistent pressure to guide the teeth towards their desired alignment. Finally, elastics (rubber bands) connect the wire(s) to the brackets. Our practice offers elastics in a wide variety of colors so that patients can select what fits their personality best!

Patients undergoing traditional treatment with orthodontics will need to attend regular progress appointments so that Dr. Nathan can ensure that everything is going smoothly and also tighten and/or switch out the orthodontic wire. When it comes the proposed length of treatment, every case is different — some patients have achieved their desired improvements after six months, while others will need to wear braces upwards of two years.

Orthodontics for Children

We strongly encourage parents to schedule an initial orthodontic consultation for their son or daughter by the age of seven. Even if they still have several of their “baby” teeth, Dr. Nathan will still be able to assess their oral development and determine if there are any potential concerns that may require correction with traditional braces in the future. In fact, we may recommend Phase 1 Pediatric Orthodontics as an important first step to the treatment process. Through the use of various oral appliances, we can guide the development of permanent teeth, correct misaligned bites, and accomplish other improvements that will have positive, lifelong benefits for your loved one.

Orthodontics for Teens

The teenage years are often a perfect time for younger patients to start improving their smiles with traditional braces. Not only can their sense of self-confidence improve, but their oral health and function will be better off as well! Thrive Dental & Orthodontics offers a wide variety of different-colored elastics so that teens can showcase their dynamic personalities with one favorite shade or a multicolored rainbow. If they are concerned about wearing noticeable brackets and wires, Invisalign Teen is another worthwhile treatment option that may be worth exploring during an initial consultation.

Orthodontics for Adults

Far too often, our older patients feel like they’ve missed the boat entirely on traditional orthodontics — but this just isn’t true. Dr. Nathan has helped all ages achieve the significant health and aesthetic benefits that come from straighter smiles! Today’s braces are smaller and more modern than ever before, and we can provide neutral-colored elastics (white or gray) that will help you maintain a professional, polished appearance throughout treatment. Additionally, image-friendly alternatives like clear and ceramic braces and Invisalign® clear aligners are also available.
